1. What is a constitution?
Answer: A set of basic rules that all citizens in a democratic country should follow is called a constitution.
2. Why do we need a constitution?
Answer: We need a constitution for the following reasons.
(i) A constitution generates trust among diverse groups of citizens and helps every citizen to live peacefully.
(ii) It specifies the way as to how the government will function.
(iii) The constitution prevents the leader to cross their limits and also specifies the rights of citizens.
(iv) The constitution shows how an ideal society can be formed.
3. What are constitutional amendments?
Answer: To meet the needs of the changing time, the constitution needs to be modified from time to time. These changes introduced in the constitution are called constitutional amendments.
4. How many members are there in the Constituent Assembly that wrote the Indian Constitution?
Answer: 299 members.
5. When was the Constitution of India adopted?
Answer: The constitution of India was adopted on 26 November 1949.
6. When the constitution of India came into effect?
Answer: The constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950.
7. When did Mahatma Gandhi write his magazine, Young India?
Answer: Mahatma Gandhi wrote his magazine, Young India in the year 1931.
8. What is Preamble?
Answer: A Preamble is a brief introduction in a constitution that states the purpose of the Constitution
